A novel by Neal Shusterman
"IT BEGINS WITH AN ACCIDENT.
Nick and Allie don’t survive the crash, and now their souls are stuck halfway between life and death in a sort of limbo called Everlost. It’s a magical yet dangerous place, where bands of lost souls run wild and anyone who stands in the same spot too long sinks to the center of the Earth. Frightened and determined, Nick and Allie aren’t ready to rest in peace just yet. They want their lives back, and their search for a way home will take them deep into the uncharted areas of Everlost. But the longer they stay, the more they forget about their pasts. And if all memory of home is lost, they may never escape this strange, terrible world." - Neal Shusterman
For Everlost, I used this quote below as part of the building block for the symbols for Everlost.
“think of it this way," he said "It took nine months to get you born, so doesn't it figure it would take nine months to get you dead?” ― Neal Shusterman, Everlost.
The statement about nine months to be born and to die. I decided I would use the number nine to represent life and death. Then I decided to turn the numbers into a Venn Diagram, so I can put Life on one side and Death on the other with Everlost in the center. Since the two main charcters are Nick, male, and Allie, Female, I used gender symbols. Female is life and the Male is death. Which if you read all three skinjacker trilogys, the side I chose relates to the purpose and desires the main characters progress into overtime. The colors: green, red, and black, I decided to stay true to the original book cover (see the image at the bottom). I think that the colors give off the afterlife eerie feeling and contrast well to give the eyecatching pop.
